It is a job that I am incredibly passionate about with the firm belief that learning doesn't have to be terrifying or humiliating, but an experience that can be not only enjoyable but which also provides confidence that can be felt in all other areas of life.

My Story
Having gained a Bachelor of Education Honours degree from Kingston University in 1995, Dan decided to capitalise on what his university lecturers had said was his major strength - 1 to 1 teaching. With a passion for teaching and education, he set up his own private tuition business in January of 1996. Based in Chesterfield, Derbyshire (his hometown at that time) he began receiving clients from a local tuition agency and found, after just a short time, that the demand for after-school help was great, and his weekly schedule quickly filled up. This success continued for four more years with students of all ages achieving great success after both long and short spells of private tuition.
In 2001 the lure of his original hometown proved too much and Dan moved back to the area where he had grown up and which he knew so well - Surrey. Settling in Betchworth, he soon had a full weekly timetable of students including primary aged children, GCSE students and adult learners, all of which now came as a result of word of mouth recommendations. With a mixture of students no longer in school, and students wanting help after school, Dan found he was putting his degree training to good use. However it has been his degree subject specialism in English and a personal determination to make Maths as simple and nonthreatening as possible which has led to many longer term clients - with Dan helping them throughout their school lives.

Since the global pandemic of 2020 the shift in focus to more online tutoring opportunities has been met with enthusiasm by Dan who has long had an interest in technology and its applications in the field of education. The removal of geographical barriers through the use of Zoom video conferencing has also allowed him to take on international students.
Over and above all this it has been commented that it is specifically Dan's relaxed teaching style and informal manner which has reaped such rewards, both for the students and Dan.
