My Story
Having gained a Bachelor of Education Honours degree from Kingston University, I set up my own private tuition business initially based in Chesterfield, Derbyshire. From the very beginning, my focus was on one-to-one teaching — something my university lecturers had identified as my greatest strength. Word spread quickly, and my weekly schedule filled up fast.
After I moved back to Surrey, the area I'd grown up in, I built an entirely new client base from scratch — this time entirely through word of mouth. Over the following years I worked with primary-aged children, GCSE students, and adult learners alike, helping many of them right through their school lives. It's been my degree specialism in English, combined with a personal determination to make Maths as simple and non-threatening as possible, that has kept so many students coming back.
Since 2020 I've made the full transition to online tutoring, and honestly it's been a revelation. Tools like Zoom and Google Meet remove the geographical barriers entirely — I now work with students across the UK and beyond. The sessions are just as personal and effective as they ever were in person, and the flexibility suits both families and students brilliantly.
Over all of this, what clients have consistently told me is that it's my relaxed teaching style and informal manner that makes the real difference — not just in results, but in how students feel about learning itself.
