I'm Dan, a qualified teacher with over 25 years' experience of one-to-one tuition. My lessons are relaxed, supportive and completely individual, helping students build confidence as well as understanding.

Unlike a classroom where a teacher must divide attention across 30 students, my sessions are entirely one-to-one. Every minute of every lesson is focused on your child and no one else.

Whether a student needs to close a gap in understanding, rebuild their confidence, or push for the very top grades, I adapt my approach entirely to them — not to a fixed curriculum schedule.

I teach Maths and English from KS2 through to GCSE. Every lesson is one-to-one, so what we work on — and how we approach it — depends entirely on the student in front of me.

Mathematics

Maths can become frustrating very quickly when one missing piece of understanding starts getting in the way of everything that comes afterwards.

I work with students from KS2 through to GCSE, finding those gaps, explaining things in a way that makes sense to the individual student, and building from there. We work on understanding the Maths properly, while also developing the techniques and confidence needed for tests and exams.

English

English is often less about finding the 'right' answer and more about helping students develop the confidence to explore their own ideas and back them up.

I want students to trust their own interpretation rather than simply trying to work out what they think the teacher wants them to write. From KS2 through to GCSE, we work on reading, writing, language and literature — developing ideas, finding the evidence to support them, and turning those ideas into clear, convincing answers.

How It Works

Getting started is straightforward. Here's what happens from first contact through to your child's first session with me:

Get in Touch

Drop me a message with your child's year group, subject, and what you're hoping to achieve. A short conversation helps me understand the full picture before we begin.

We Work Out Where to Start

The first few lessons help me get to know your child — what they already understand, where they're getting stuck, and how they respond to different ways of explaining things. From there, the lessons develop around what they actually need.

We Build From There

As we work together, I keep adapting the lessons as understanding and confidence grow. I'll keep you updated along the way, while your child gets the time and individual attention they need to make progress at their own pace.
